Questions & Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers based on current official guidance. Rules, fees and institutional requirements can change, so check the linked source for time-sensitive decisions.

Can Nepali students study in the United Kingdom?

Yes. Nepali students can apply to licensed UK education providers if they meet the institution’s academic and English-language requirements and qualify for the Student visa route.

What is a CAS for a UK Student visa?

A Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) is the reference issued by a licensed student sponsor after the institution is ready to sponsor the student. It contains key course and sponsorship information used in the visa application.

When can I apply for a UK Student visa after receiving a CAS?

A Student visa application must be linked to a valid CAS, and GOV.UK states that the visa application must be made within six months of the CAS being assigned. Course start timing and overseas application rules also apply.

What are the main UK intakes?

Many UK institutions have September/October as a major intake and a substantial number offer January starts. KB Education’s current planning includes selected October 2026 programs and January 2027, but program availability must be checked university by university.

What academic grades are required for the UK?

Requirements vary by university, course and level. Universities may consider overall grades, relevant subjects, previous degree classification, study gaps and work experience, so there is no single UK-wide GPA requirement.

What English level is required for a UK Student visa?

The required English level depends on the course. GOV.UK generally references CEFR B2 for degree-level study and B1 for below-degree study, while eligible higher education providers can assess English for degree-level admission under the rules.

Is IELTS mandatory for every UK university?

No. IELTS is widely accepted, but institutions may accept other approved tests or other evidence where the Student visa rules and university policy permit it. Always check the exact English condition on the offer and CAS process.

How much money must a UK Student visa applicant show?

The financial requirement normally includes unpaid course fees for the relevant period plus prescribed monthly living costs. Current GOV.UK figures and exemptions can change, so the amount should be calculated from the official Student visa money page at the time of application.

How long must UK visa funds be held?

Where the maintenance-funds rule applies, GOV.UK normally requires the required amount to be held for 28 consecutive days, with the end of that period falling within the permitted window before the application. Check the current money guidance before using a bank statement.

What documents are commonly needed for a UK Student visa?

Common items include a valid passport and CAS, plus financial evidence when required. Depending on the applicant and course, ATAS, TB evidence, parental consent, sponsor consent or other supporting documents may also be required.

Can UK students work part-time?

Work rights depend on the course, sponsor and visa conditions. A full-time degree-level student at an eligible higher education provider is commonly permitted up to 20 hours per week during term time and full-time during official vacations, but the exact condition on the visa must be followed.

Can I be self-employed on a UK Student visa?

Student visa work conditions generally restrict self-employment and business activity. Students should read their visa conditions carefully before accepting work or starting any commercial activity.

Can I take dependants to the UK as a student?

Dependants are now limited to specific categories. For courses starting on or after 1 January 2024, eligibility generally applies to qualifying government-sponsored students or certain postgraduate research/doctoral students meeting the current rules.

What is the UK Graduate visa?

The Graduate visa is a post-study route for eligible students who successfully complete a qualifying UK course. Under current GOV.UK rules it lasts two years for applications made on or before 31 December 2026, 18 months for applications made on or after 1 January 2027, and three years for PhD or other doctoral graduates.

Do I need a TB test for the UK?

A tuberculosis test can be required when the applicant meets the residence and visa-duration conditions in the UK rules. Applicants from Nepal should check the current GOV.UK TB-testing guidance and use an approved clinic if required.

Do Nepali students need an NOC for the UK?

Complete the applicable Nepal NOC process before departure and education-related foreign exchange. The NOC is a Nepal-side requirement and is separate from the UK admission and Student visa requirements.

How can I check UK visa processing times?

Use the official GOV.UK visa processing-time checker. Published times are estimates, not guarantees, and individual cases may take longer if extra checks or documents are needed.

Can I change university after receiving a UK Student visa?

Changing sponsor or course can require a new CAS and may require a new Student visa application before the new study begins. Check the immigration conditions before changing institution.

What happens if a UK Student visa is refused?

Read the refusal decision and identify whether the issue relates to finance, documents, credibility, immigration history or another requirement. Reapplication or review options depend on the case and should address the actual refusal reason.

How can KB Education help with a UK application?

KB Education can help with profile review, university and course shortlisting, admission-document planning, CAS-readiness checks and preparation of a visa document checklist based on current official guidance. Sponsorship and visa decisions remain with the university and UK authorities.

Can I apply for the UK without paying all tuition in advance?

Often yes, depending on the university’s deposit/CAS policy. For the visa, any unpaid course fee shown on the CAS is normally included in the financial calculation unless an applicable rule or credited payment changes the amount.

Does receiving a CAS guarantee a UK Student visa?

No. A CAS confirms sponsorship for the course, but UKVI still decides the visa after assessing the application and supporting evidence.

Guidance is informational and does not guarantee admission, immigration approval, employment or a scholarship. The latest decision of the university and competent authority prevails.
